Neo-Gothic silver and gilt-silver brooch in the form of a three-dimensional chased figure of an Angel holding two young children in his arms.
Work of the famous Parisian jeweller François-Désiré Froment-Meurice, executed by Jules Wièse (1818-1890), workshop manager of Froment-Meurice from 1844. The jewel is wearing the jeweller’s mark of Jules Wièse (1844-1849) (cf. Judy Rudoe, François-Désiré Froment-Meurice and Jules Wièse, collaborators, in The Belle Epoque of French Jewellery 1850 – 1910, London, 1991, p. 43 sq).
