A gold brooch set with a blackamoor “habillé” cameo.

The oval gold brooch (and pendant) is set with an “habillé” (i.e. “dressed”) onyx cameo of two layers, sculpted with a bust of a “blackamoor” lady in profile to left. Se is wearing a gold hairdress, a drop-diamond earring hangs from his earlobe and a gold and diamonds necklace adorns her neck.
Great subject.
Excellent condition of the cameo with a tiny chip at the base of the neck. The gold mesh of the bun has been restored.
